Title of the Piece: HANGING LAMP.

Commentary: This work hangs at a 3 leveled staircase, in a private house. When one ascends or descends the stairs, various aspects of the lamp become apparent.
During day, the stair cube, which has windows in three of its walls, lets natural daylight in, together with the light reflection of a water mirror that lies in the front facade. All of this reflects into more than 90 glass spheres and when they refract the light, all the information becomes a game of movement and textures.
At night, the lamp consists of 4 high performance halogens placed at the stainless steel circular p
late, One can control the intensity of the light for various environments, from warm and soft to intense white, which makes glass resemble ice and and brings the industrial crisp ambient to the space.

Technic: This lamp is 100% hand made. With 96 blown glass spheres coldworked at the bottom, We worked with 3 basic sizes that hang from steel cables each with 4 to 10 spheres. Although hanging “randomly” each sphere is carefully positioned to prevent it from hitting another. All of this makes this lamp a slow and detailed piece to make and install.

The steel structure and the polished stainless steel disc where made by the metal expert and also artist Ricardo Ángeles Reyes.

Size: lenght 4.20 mts. Aproximate weight: 800 kg.
diámeter of the polished stainless steel disc: 1.20 mts.
