Title
of theSeries: DENSITY & DISSEMINATION.
Blown
recycled glass spheres with glitter. This work is influenced by
some ideas of architect Luis Barragan regarding light & reflection
of space, The plated spheres came to Mexico from orient and from
Moorish Spain, but Barragan inserted this decorative craft inside
his architecture (in the 40’s), and it is said that he referred
to them as “spheres for the concentration of the architectural
space”.
My
idea with this pieces and with using glitter is that it works as
plated glass but has a disseminative quality. The glitter adheres
to the glass’ surface and works as a mirror, but with the
movement, it changes constantly and reminds us of the impermanence
and change of all. I am also attracted to mixing two opposite materials
such as glass and glitter in a piece.
