| Title
of the Piece: TZOMPANTLI
Technique:Found
object; used bricks and marbles..
Commentary:
A tzompantli was a prehispanic monument of war. It consisted in
a structure formed of rows and colums filled with skulls. This structures
sometimes "adorned" the sides of temples.
The
texture, simplicity and geometrical quality of this intervention
reminds me of the ocular cavities of the skulls, and the structure
of the aztec monument, but this piece also simbolizes, to me, a
duality between life and death.
